I wouldn't have thought the 1812 overture, celebrating the Russian defeat of Napolean, the most appropriate celebration for Bastille Day, but apparently not unique and the irony is in the title. C'est La Vie = Such Is Life.
C'est La Vie!
A celebration of Bastille DayPresenting Cairns Bands together with the Band of the 1st Battalion Royal Australian Regiment
Over 2 hours of fabulous music
60+ musicians on stage
Featuring Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture written to commemorate the Russian victory in the Franco/Russian war 200 years ago.
With cannon fire (simulated), ringing chimes and a brass fanfare finale this will be a momentous performance.
Warning: This show contains loud sound effects.
Meanwhile La Marseillaise from Casablanca is far more rousing but I only have an Italian red to go with it ...... just don't mention Vichy! I wonder how Angela Merkel is celebrating Bastille Day?
